Countries like Philippines and India, have been targeting Canadian businesses for online services, and there is no doubt the right team, anywhere in the world will be able to cover your needs, but will they be the better option for you? We don’t think that can always be successful.

First off you have to be-careful with spam and fraud as you are sharing your online business credentials with these foreign individuals and companies, so always make sure they are legit first.

If they are legit, you have to make sure they understand your business and your culture within the business and your clients. I’ve known of overseas developers that did not fully understand the clientele and decided to SEO the wrong keywords in certain locations. This also happened with website navigation as well, the navigation was not typical for north America but it made sense for another part of the world.

From personal experience the majority of overseas teams without a north American liaison will have trouble being efficient and effective. You should not expect a high level of professionalism and quality in most cases either, but this does not mean all teams are like this, it is just the case for the majority of teams.

Our suggestion is that, with all the challenges of an online business, you do not need to deal with overseas challenges as described above as well, it is just much easier to have a team that is local or at least in the same country or continent.
